Love: art meets love at the Chiostro del Bramante
LOVE. Contemporary art meets love. This is the exhibition, curated by Danilo Eccher, with which the Chiostro del Bramante has decided to celebrate its 20 years of activity. An unconventional exhibition path, which addresses the universal theme of love and involves the viewer at 360°, making him the protagonist.
The museum experience passes through sensory involvement, starting with an active driving experience. You can choose from 5 special travel companions: John, Coco, Amy, David and Lilly. Through their story, the visitor is accompanied to discover not only the history and meanings of the exhibited works, but also the emotions that are contained in each of them.
In this way, art meets love by recounting its different facets and its infinite variations, with the works of many of the most important art artists contemporary like Yayoi Kusama, Tom Wesselmann, Andy Warhol, Robert Indiana, Gilbert & George, Francesco Vezzoli, Tracey Emin, Marc Quinn, Francesco Clemente and Joana Vasconcelos.
“Art is, despite everything, a great declaration of love” explain Danilo Eccher, curator of the exhibition Love. “Telling about love is therefore not a task of art, it is its very essence, its nature, its purpose, its last thought. Therefore, an art exhibition cannot fail to be an exhibition of the clothes of love, its masks, its jewels, its perfumes, its tricks”.
The journey into love “today” begins right in the entrance courtyard of the Bramante cloister, which converges towards the work < strong>Love (1966-1999), a square of letters that Robert Indiana traced in the early 1960s and which has continued to represent the strongest icon ever since and evocative of an image that becomes word, invading the space that exposes the essence of the art itself.
However, the real protagonist of the exhibition is the public, invited to reappropriate the exhibition spaces and to freely photograph all the works on display (official hashtag #chiostrolove). The result is a free use, which embraces the concept of open accesss and of the museum as an open space, constantly evolving thanks to interaction and mutual contamination.
An exhibition that aims to excite and make people think, but above all to allow visitors to interact with the artworks and get involved themselves.
The culmination of this experience is the installation All the Eternal Love I Have for the Pumpkins by Yayoi Kusama. It is a psychedelic room of mirrors, with a vast vastness of pumpkin-shaped sculptures inside, where one or two people can enter at a time for a maximum of twenty seconds, just long enough to immerse themselves in the illusion of an infinite reflection and to photograph yourself. It is no coincidence that the Infinity Mirrored room is among the most Instagrammed works in the world.
